F500 LIGHTNING TALKS

SPEAKER FAQ

What is a F500 Lightning Talk?

These are part of a series of meet-up-style events, in partnership with Founders500 and Signal, or an alternate company hosting the event. These events typically happen on a Tuesday evening, at Maslow’s in London. This is an evening of insightful content and networking with the community.

When and where will I be speaking?

Please check with your F500 Event Manager if you are unsure of this. This should be outlined on the event roadmap.

What are the speaking slot details?

Speaking slots will vary in time:

There will be a host at the event to introduce you and monitor the Q&A if there is one. The host will also facilitate the panel discussion.

Do I need to prepare anything for the session?

You may have been asked to provide some plant questions for after your session or discussion topics if you are doing a panel.

You may also wish to create a slide deck to present at the event if you are not on a panel.

Where do I check in?

Please arrive at 18:00 PM, unless stated otherwise. Your F500 Event Manager will greet you on arrival and help you get set up.

Please check in with the event organisers at the venue to help you set up sound output at the event and for your slide deck. As well as our videographer from DiD Media, to ensure you are set up for recording your session.

How should I format my presentation?

The format of your presentation is entirely up to you, you may use PDF, PowerPoint, live code or no visuals at all.

How will I present at the venue?

It is required that all speakers use their laptops. If for any reason you are unable to do this, please let us know as soon as possible. Please also bring your laptop charger and any adaptors you may need.

Will my session be recorded?

We will be recording the entirety of the event. These videos will be live on our site and YouTube channel.

If you do not wish for your session to be recorded, please notify your F500 Event Manager ahead of time.

Who will be attending the event?

At our events, we tend to have between 20-40 attendees, depending on the venue’s capacity.

The audience will consist of like-minded individuals who are established founders, founders who are looking to grow their business, and individuals who simply have creative ideas and are unsure where to start.

What is the dress code?

Smart casual.

Will refreshments be provided?

Free drinks will be provided at the venue while the event is running, but after the event closes, we ask that attendees pay for their own drinks.

What tags shall I use for the event?

Please mention us on any posts you make on Instagram @thefounders500 or LinkedIn @Founders500 and use the hashtag #Founders500.

We will share what we can from all our speakers. It also allows people who can’t attend the opportunity to feel involved and contact you if they have questions.

What are the F500 Brand Guidelines?

F500 will provide promotional material for the event. However, if you wish to create your own, please ensure you follow the F500 Brand Guidelines, which can be found here.

Is there any branded material for the event?

F500 will provide you with a speaker flyer to share on socials ahead of the event.

Is there any other ways I can get involved in the community?

Yes! We always welcome our speakers to engage in more of our events and materials. You are always welcome to attend any of our events. We also have a Speaker Spotlight form which you are welcome to fill out, which asks details about yourself and your company. You can access this here.

All staff, attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our festivals or online events are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

Our events, webinars and conferences are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, seniority, cultural, socioeconomically, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any festival venue, including talks, workshops, parties, social media and other online media. Festival or online participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the festival/webinar at the discretion of the Festival organisers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, seniority, culturally, socioeconomically, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the festival organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the festival or webinar.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the festival staff immediately. Festival staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded clothing and/or badges. You can also email info@createcommunities.com.

For our in-person events, festival staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the Festival. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at festivals and workshop venues, webinars where appropriate, and festival-related social events.

Please do not conduct any personal recordings. Once we have a speaker’s permission and the presentation is edited, we will then release the content to our festival website and YouTube.

For our in-person events, please put your mobile phones on silent during all talks.

No excessive photography.

For our in-person events, in consideration of fellow attendees, no food is allowed in the session rooms.
